About us
Family Matters York started in 2001 from the common vision of a number of people working or living in York with a passion to promote and encourage positive relationships in all walks of life.
Our work has been in 3 main areas – couples - parenting – money management. Over the years we have run numerous courses and workshops and have trained our own staff as well as people in other organisations to do so.
We have worked in partnership with other organisations including the Registry Office to promote Marriage Preparation for couples planning to marry, Relate to produce our Baby Shock DVD for new parents , York Childrens' Trust, City of York Council as well as churches, schools and Colleges across York.
Our work was initially funded through a DfES Grant .We are now dependent on the sponsorship of individuals and churches ,grants for specific projects and fees for services.
We have 4 part time paid staff and many volunteers.
